Marie-Annick Lépine, Jean-François Pauzé and Jérôme Dupras took turns at the microphone in front of a crowd that warmly welcomed them.
“Make noise for the last time for the one, unique and eternal Karl Tremblay,” said Jérôme Dupras at the end of the three touching speeches.
“We were a couple for more than 20 years, our friends called us “Karlmarie”, we were inseparable,” said Marie-Annick Lépine in her homage to her partner.
“Over time we managed to have two beautiful little girls who united us more than anything. The last few weeks have passed very quickly (…) His last clear words that he uttered: “I will endure it all to the end, Marie for my two daughters”. I love you Karl Tremblay, we love you, our “big one”, our giant tree. You will be remembered for a long time. We’ll be hearing about it for a long time.”
For his part, Jean-François Pauzé said he did not want to “fall into melancholy”.
“Our ‘big one’ was someone who loved life,” he explained.
“I don’t know what happens after death, but if Karl saw what’s been happening here for two weeks, he would say: Let’s see the gang, calm down, Ostie!”
They ended their speeches with a rendition of “On my Shoulder.”
