Although she did not want to be identified on camera, a cousin of the young mother who was stabbed to death by her husband and father of her children called Telemundo 51.
He confirmed that both children, aged 10 and 6, currently remain in the care of a maternal aunt.
Eder Omar Espinoza Andino is accused of killing the mother of his two children with a kitchen knife. Neighbors identified the victim as Johana Aristizabal, a young mother who moved to the neighborhood just last October.
“It was a big impact, the mother was dead and the father was locked up, what will become of the children?” says a neighbor.
According to the arrested man’s affidavit, the couple had verbally argued when the victim came home from work and, armed with a kitchen knife, wounded her and laid her body on the sofa, covering her wounds and wiping the blood off the floor. In order to prevent the children from seeing their mother’s body, he said he hid it in the trunk of his car.
Surveillance video from a neighboring house shows the moment the victim’s body was taken out of the house, where the detainee put it back after hiding it in the trunk, the affidavit said, adding that Espinosa Andino was his brought both sons to a friend’s house and confessed what had happened.
Today in court they failed to set bail on the second-degree murder charge against him, and on the second evidence tampering charge, the judge ruled he had to pay $5,000.
The judge concluded that if he already has an assigned attorney, he must appear before a judge again.
