A 28yearold man was arrested in Miami on Sunday after sexually assaulting a woman in the hallways of a Walmart store on Northwest 79th Street.
The arrest report, quoted by the local press, indicates that the defendant, identified as Bredan Harvey, approached the woman from behind, lifted her dress and attempted to touch her.
When the victim denied the attack, he threw her to the ground, ripped off her underwear and tried to touch her below the waist.
A video posted on OnlyInDade’s Instagram profile shows the excitement that arose in the store.
The attack was witnessed by at least two people who intervened to separate the attacker from his victim, whose identity has not been released.
Harvey appeared before bail court on Monday. The judge barred him from contact with the victim and ordered him to stay away from the Walmart store where the attack took place.
He also set Bredan Harvey’s bail at $50,000 and he is now on probation.
Local media point out that this isn’t the first time a woman has been the victim of such an attack at Walmart.
In February of this year, two women were allegedly assaulted by the same man in two separate incidents while shopping at the Washington Square Plaza Walmart in Stafford, Virginia.
In November 2021, Tulsa police received reports of a sexual assault in a Walmart parking lot in this Oklahoma City.
According to Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network (RAINN), the nation’s largest nonprofit dedicated to combating sexual assault, a woman is sexually assaulted in the United States every 68 seconds.
