Media coverage of the incident would also have resulted in the loss of “several employment opportunities.”

The six-figure settlement would cover Mr. Townsend’s medical costs after the attack for medication, therapy and other treatments for headaches and neck pain, as well as treatment for depression and post-traumatic syndrome, the attorney’s letter said.

This amicable settlement would allow the boxer to avoid legal action, according to the plaintiff’s representative’s writings.

However, the boxer’s lawyer was clear: “There will be no payment after this extortion demand,” he replied, according to New York media.
