A 38yearold man allegedly broke into a zoo's lion enclosure to take a selfie with the cat, but was attacked by the animal and died. The case was registered in India on Thursday (15).
The man, identified as Prahlad Gujjar, entered the premises after breaking into a restricted area that was not open to the public. Gujjar was warned about the risks by a caretaker, but he ignored the warnings.
Gujjar climbed a fence more than 7 meters high and jumped to the spot where the lions were. One of the animals attacked him before the caretaker could intervene
The case is being investigated by the police. An autopsy will be carried out on the man's body to determine whether he was drunk when he entered the premises.
Gujjar visited the zoo alone and authorities are trying to contact the family.
There are three lions in the enclosure where Gujjar entered. The animal that attacked him has been placed in a cage and is being kept under observation.
