Man escapes death by getting out of car seconds before a rock destroys the vehicle

A man narrowly escaped death after stepping out of the car he was driving seconds before a giant boulder fell on him. The American got out of the vehicle to take a call and moments later saw it completely crumpled.

Mauricio Henao was in the driver’s seat of the car when the phone rang and he decided to get out of the parked vehicle in the city of Malibu, California.

A few seconds later he heard the sound of stones falling down the slope and the result can be seen in the image below.

“I just heard a loud bang and then ran and saw my car crushed,” he told US broadcaster KTLA in midJanuary. What Mauricio found was the vehicle’s roof completely crushed, the roof crushed and the windows broken.

“The stone is the size of the entire bonnet. The windshield is completely destroyed and the structure of the car was twisted,” adds the vehicle’s owner.

Mauricio says he was quite traumatized by the incident, which could have killed him, and claims the call saved his life. “Honestly, I don’t think I’ll park here again after that. I’m a bit traumatized by this whole ordeal,” he muses.

Other incidents of the same nature occurred in the city, but authorities received no information about people injured by the rockfall and debris.

One of those hits was local resident Nick Kennedy, who explained to KTLA that the rocks “crossed the road” and hit his SUV.
