Man found dead in Delta plane engine

A 30-year-old man was found dead in the closed engine of a Delta plane at Salt Lake City International Airport after passing through an airport emergency exit on New Year's Eve.

According to information from the New York Post, local police said a disturbance involving an unknown 30-year-old man was reported around 10 p.m.

The police at the airport were unable to reach the man in question. He ran through an emergency exit and fled to the airport, police said.

Fifteen minutes later, the man was found unconscious in one of the engines of a Delta plane. The engine was not operating at the time of the intrusion, but was preparing to take off for San Francisco with more than 100 passengers on board.

First responders removed the 30-year-old man from the plane, where they pronounced him dead.

The cause of death is still unknown as “the engine was not running at the time,” the airport confirmed.

The flight was cancelled. The passengers on this boarding were reassigned to another flight.
