A 38yearold man was arrested this Monday 22 when he tried to steal an Alfa Romeu car parked on a public street in the California district, in the south of the Argentine province of Córdoba. The novelty of the criminal modality was that he, identified as Diego Borda, hired a towing service saying he owned the vehicle and needed to transport itpolice sources reported.

According to the police summary, accessed by the Argentine newspaper La Nacion, the thief had called a mechanical assistance service to send a tow truck to remove his car, which no longer worked there.

The towing service arrived and began maneuvering to remove the vehicle from the scene when a neighbor who knew the car's owner called police. The actual owner of the vehicle was also there on time and presented the vehicle documents.

The man was arrested and is available to the public prosecutor on duty, local police reported.
