The famous explorer and adventurer, known for his reality shows in hostile environments, traveled to Ukraine and met President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. His visit drew attention – and humor – from the Ukrainian media.
“Winter can’t do anything against us anymore: Great Britain sends us its secret weapon to help Ukraine,” laughed a Ukrainian journalist on Thursday, posting a short video showing the adventurer and famous presenter in Ukraine. Bear Grylls made a visit lasting several days, which he has not yet publicly commented on – at most before his arrival in Kyiv he was content to post an enigmatic photo of himself on the plane: “on the road again”, which he had taken off on his fans, without further details.
But Volodymyr Zelenskyy was less discreet. “Bear Grylls, thank you for visiting Ukraine! It is important that the world hears the Ukrainians’ fight for their freedom and for democracy and that we know what terror our attacker is bringing on us with his rockets! wrote the President of Ukraine on his Telegram account, publishing several photos of the adventurer and him walking the streets of Kyiv under a good escort.

Therefore, even if the exact purpose of Bear Grylls’ visit to Ukraine is not exactly known, his presence at least caused a lot of reactions in the media and on Ukrainian social networks. Many have drawn a parallel between the explorer’s adventures in very inhospitable environments and the current situation in the country: in fact, the Russian strikes of the past few days have damaged many energy infrastructures, and Ukraine is preparing for a particularly difficult winter with many regions without water and Electricity.
