Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg now says he wants to track down migrants who attacked police officers and will present evidence to the grand jury to indict them, days after he released them to flee to California

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has now claimed he wants to track down the migrants who allegedly attacked two NYPD officers before a judge released them without bail.

Bragg claimed his office would present evidence to a grand jury on Tuesday about the 12 suspects he said were involved in the Jan. 27 scuffle with police outside a Times Square shelter.

“Our office continues to work with law enforcement to bring all those responsible for these heinous attacks to justice.” “It is clear from videos and other evidence that some of the most culpable individuals have not yet been identified or arrested, and we are working hand in hand with the NYPD to find them and hold them accountable for their heinous actions,” Bragg said in a statement Saturday.

“We will not rest until every person who attacked a police officer in this horrific attack is held accountable.”

It may be a little late to track down some of the suspects, as four of them are believed to have used fake names to get bus tickets to California from a Catholic charity in New York.

After a brutal attack on NYPD officers in Times Square last Saturday, six suspects were arrested and charged with robbery and assault. According to police, a seventh man was arrested but released without charge due to lack of evidence.

Four of those suspected of being involved were released without bail and are now feared to have fled by bus to California with the help of a church-affiliated migrant charity.

Police have not released the identities of five other suspects in the attack on NYPD officers.

On Friday, Bragg defended the decision to release a group of migrants suspected of the attack.

He said: “While the video is shocking and disturbing, in order to secure a conviction in court it is essential that we clearly identify each defendant.”

“In Manhattan, we do not tolerate or accept assaults on police officers.” I watched the tape this week. Disgusting behavior. It made me sick and outraged.'

24-year-old Venezuelan citizen Yohenry Brito was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court on Thursday and is the only one of the suspects being held on bail at Rikers Island.

The Manhattan District Attorney's Office said the $15,000 bail or $50,000 bond was justified because Brito was clearly identified in the video of the attack by a “distinct tattoo.”

The brutal attack occurred around 8:30 p.m. as officers attempted to disperse a disorderly group in front of 220 West 42 Street.

A fight broke out between a suspect in a yellow sweatshirt and the police officers.

According to the NYPD, the migrants then began attacking the officers, kicking them in the head and body while the two officers attempted to restrain one of the other men and rip his sweatshirt off.

The migrants then fled, fleeing east on 42nd Street toward Seventh Avenue.

At around 10:44 p.m. that evening, four of them – Darwin Andres Gomez Izquiel, 19, Kelvin Servat Arocha, 19, Juarez Wilson, 21, and Yorman Reveron, 24 – were arrested.

They were all charged with assault on a police officer, gang assault, obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct, but were released without bail.

Gomez, Arocha, Juarez and Reveron are believed to have given false names to a church-affiliated nonprofit group that helps migrants get rides out of the city, law enforcement sources told The Post.

Suspect Jhoan Boada, 22, was also released after being charged and was seen flipping the bird to journalists waiting outside the courthouse.

Brito was known to police for a number of previous crimes, including petty theft for stealing $275 worth of merchandise from Bergdorf Goodman and $139 worth of clothing from Macy's in October.

Jandry Barros, 21, a seventh suspect who was arrested but released without charges due to lack of evidence, also has a criminal record with authorities.

Since taking office in 2022, Bragg has faced criticism for not seeking prison time on certain charges and for downgrading felony charges in a number of cases, including armed robbery and some drug offenses.

Actor Michael Rapaport spoke out about the group of migrants who allegedly attacked police officers in Times Square

He said he was prepared to vote for Donald Trump in the 2024 election because of his outrage over a migrant punching an NYPD police officer in Times Square.

Rapaport on Friday criticized the decision and the deterioration of law enforcement in the Big Apple.

“Let me tell you something: What the hell is the world for?” he said. “If you could come from another country, beat up a police officer in New York City and walk out without bail?”

“Released without bail. Came out of the courtroom with Tupac, raising the middle finger with the Detroit Redwings jersey.”

He added, “You have nothing to say about f***ing cops getting beaten up in New York City? The greatest city in the world?”

While Elon Musk claimed that Biden's plan is to allow as many migrants into the country as possible.

“Biden’s strategy is very simple,” he said. '1. Bring as many illegals into the country as possible.

'2. Legalize it to create a permanent majority – a one-party state. That's why they encourage so much illegal immigration. Simple yet effective.'

He added: “Here is the full text of the bill.” It sounds so sensible at first, just as in revolutionary France “The Committee of Public Safety” actually meant “The Committee to Cut Off Heads.”

In another post, Musk said: “[It] explains why there are so few deportations, because every deportation is a lost vote.

“As happened this week, in New York you can literally attack cops in broad daylight, be released without bail, give everyone the finger, and *still* not get deported!! Outrageous.'

The refugee crisis previously affected southern border states such as Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.

But the problem is increasingly impacting cities like New York, Boston and Chicago, as buses carrying thousands of migrants are sent to Democratic-run areas across the US.

The humanitarian crisis has put increasing pressure on Democrats, including President Joe Biden, as the number of people crossing the border reaches unprecedented levels.

A record 300,000 migrants crossed the U.S. southern border in December, surpassing the highest number ever recorded, according to a new report.

New York City, in particular, is grappling with the burden of tens of thousands of migrants arriving at its borders in need of shelter and other accommodations.

In 2023 alone, the city had to cope with the arrival of more than 100,000 migrants.

Adams has repeatedly asked for federal aid to house and feed the city's migrants, but has been denied.

New York has a right to shelter and an obligation to house asylum seekers, but shelters are filling up at an astronomical rate.

In Manhattan, several landmark hotels have been converted into temporary shelters and shelters.

Back in September, Hochul said, “We need to get the message out that if you come to New York, you won't have more hotel rooms, we don't have capacity.”

“That’s why we also need to make it clear that we are at a border – when you leave your country, you go somewhere else.”
