SAGUENAY – Like the beneficiaries during the pandemic, François Legault wants to introduce accelerated training to increase the number of workers in the construction sector.

The CAQ prime minister made the announcement on Friday at the end of his party’s election meeting in preparation for its return to parliament in Jonquière.
He argues that many projects will be launched in Quebec in the next few decades. His government is already planning numerous public transport projects, but also wants to increase Hydro-Québec’s capacity, be it through dams, wind power or the restart of Gentilly-2.
Added to this are the needs in the housing sector, which are likely to cause a real estate boom.
Although he currently refuses to quantify the number of people to be trained, François Legault describes an accelerated program like the one introduced during the pandemic for beneficiary carers.
It would be a shorter and paid apprenticeship.
“I would really like to train in the winter and be ready next spring with as many people as possible because there are a lot of projects,” explained Mr. Legault.
Everything must be discussed with the Commission de la construction du Québec.
More details to come.
