MAP. War in Ukraine: Which countries voted against the cessation of UN General Assembly bombing?

This Wednesday, during the United Nations General Assembly, the 193 member states of the United Nations were invited to decide whether to continue Russian military operations in Ukraine. 141 countries want a complete cessation of threats.

The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution this Wednesday (March 2nd) calling for “Russia to stop using force against Ukraine immediately”. The organization called on Moscow to “immediately, completely and unconditionally withdraw all its military forces” from Ukraine. The UN also condemns “Russia’s decision to increase the readiness of its nuclear forces”.

The text was piloted by the European Union in coordination with Ukraine. He was also supported by several dozen co-sponsorships. During this vote, all of the 193 UN member states were invited to vote on the use of force by the Russian military in Ukraine. A total of 141 countries voted to end the ongoing violence in Ukraine, as shown in the map below (if no map appears, please deactivate your ad blocker).

The five countries that voted against are Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Eritrea and Syria.

The UN has reaffirmed its commitment to the country’s sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity, including “its territorial waters”. Titled “Aggression against Ukraine”, the resolution also calls for unhindered access to humanitarian aid – amid intense discussions in the Security Council on a Franco-Mexican draft resolution on the same issue – and “regrets Belarus’ involvement in the attack on Ukraine”. .

Just before that, Ukraine’s ambassador to the UN, Sergei Kislitsya, denounced in the UN rostrum the ongoing “genocide” in his country by Russia, calling for “action” by the international community not to repeat what Hitler did.
