“Apparently the Academy of Motion Picture Sciences or whatever that is decided to investigate Andrea Riseborough’s grassroots campaign to get her the Oscar nomination,” Maron began.

“Because I think it’s so threatening to their system that they’re going to be completely bought out by corporate interests in the form of studios,” he added.

‘Millions of dollars [are] put into months of advertising campaigns, public relations and screenings by major entertainment companies, and Andrea was backed by her peers through a grassroots campaign enforced by a few actors,” he added.

The Riseborough and Maron film To Leslie only grossed $27,000 at the box office, but the film and Riseborough’s performance were praised by Cate Blanchett at the Critics Choice Awards, with Howard Stern and Kate Winslet also crediting the performance with Gwyneth Paltrow and Charlize praised Theron also hosts screenings of the film.

After details emerged about the campaign — including an email from actress Mary McCormack, wife of To Leslie director Michael Morris, asking celebrities to post about the film — the Academy decided to investigate whether the campaign violated the rules of the academy or not.

“The academy is [like]”Well, we have to look at this. It shouldn’t work like that. Independent artists don’t deserve the Academy’s attention unless we see exactly how it works. So we’re going to look at that,” Maron said.

Maron added that he believes Riseborough will retain her Best Actress nomination, where she competes for her first Oscar against Cate Blanchett (Tar), Ana de Armas (Blonde), Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans) and Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All At Once) will compete ).

“Nothing will happen because of [an investigation]. It was serious, the campaign, and it’s not undeserved,” Maron said.

“But I’m glad the Academy – at the behest of special and corporate interests and paranoia about her looks – is conducting an investigation. Who gives a**k!’ he said.
