Marcel Desjardins returns to the Alouettes

The Alouettes have made some changes to their management office ahead of the next campaign, most notably announcing on Thursday the return of Marcel Desjardins, who will serve as special assistant to general manager Danny Maciocia.

Desjardins was assistant GM of the Moineaux from 2002 to 2006 and then from 2008 to 2012 and worked as GM of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Ottawa Rouge et Noir. During his nine-year stay in the federal capital, he won a Gray Cup in three appearances in the Ottawa team finals. In Montreal, he also served as assistant to the director of football operations, helping the organization win three championships.

Additionally, former national recruiting director Pier-Yves Lavergne has been promoted to assistant to the CEO. He has been employed by the club since January 2022 and worked at Desjardins in football operations in Ottawa, where he remained from 2015 to 2021.

Finally, Jean-Marc Edmé was appointed managing director of player personnel. He previously served as the Alouettes' director of professional player personnel.

“Given our recent successes, I am obviously very pleased with the work of my team,” Maciocia said in a press release. I am happy about Marcel Desjardins' return to the Alouettes. Pier-Yves Lavergne and Jean-Marc Edmé are excited about the challenge that lies ahead of them; they fully deserve this vote of confidence.”

The other people responsible for the team's football operations are Éric Deslauriers, Byron Archambault and Allyson Sobol.
