Marcelo Adnet is being sued by Luciano Hang

Luciano Hang, 60, filed a lawsuit against Marcelo Adnet, 41, for nonpecuniary damages.

Comedian links businessman to tax evasion. In October, Adnet shared an ad from thenSanta Catarina governorship candidate Décio Lima (PT), which released audio from 2018 in which businessman Hang, owner of the Havan stores, called the then Secretary of State for Finance to Paulo asks Eli, delay salary or “fire half” of Santa Catarina teachers to avoid SC tax hike. The comedian added the comment “Evasion Above All.”

Hang says the post was “lied”. In a note, the businessman claims the tone was “taken out of context” and stemmed from an occasion when some textile industry entrepreneurs met with the secretary to disagree with a 5% increase in the tax rate.

“We will prosecute anyone who lies about me and our company. Havan proceeds with taxes properly paid. This was a case that we have already won, including against the candidate himself. We will not accept that the creators of fake news go unpunished,” says Hang.

The advertisement was stopped by TRESC. In October of this year, the Santa Catarina Regional Electoral Court voted to suspend Décio Lima’s display of advertising, under threat of a R$100,000 fine for not complying with the decision.
