The March frenzy calmed down a bit on Friday with the higher seeds mostly doing business. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Miami Hurricanes, and Iowa State Cyclones were the only double-figure seeded teams to advance to the 2022 NCAA Tournament on the second day of the tournament. Meanwhile, the Auburn Tigers, Villanova Wildcats, and Purdue Boilermakers all had big resounding victories.
Heading into the Round of 16 on Saturday, our two biggest Cinderellas will be looking to make their tournament dreams come true. The St. Peters, who beat second-seeded Kentucky in the first round, face Murray State. Two 12-5 upset winners, Richmond and New Mexico State, face Providence and Arkansas, respectively.

Really not shocked by the score in the 1st half @UNC_Basketball against @BaylorMBB : TarHeels were super at dominating @MarkettMBB in the round and picked up the same pace against the Bears. The Tar Heels lead 42-29 in the half.

RJ Davis continues to dominate with 17 points in the half and Baylor is in serious trouble in the Round of 16 against UNC. The Tar Heels were up 42-29 at halftime. This is the most points Baylor has scored in the first half in the last three seasons. The last time Baylor overcame a double-digit halftime deficit to win was back in 2019 against Texas.

Tar Heels guard R. J. Davis missed his first shot in the #8 UNC game against #1 Baylor, but then quickly hit two 3-pointers and a long-range 2 in a row. He’s got North Carolina’s first eight points as they struggle to handle an upset – and that’s after he scored nine points total in the first two games of the NCAA UNC Tournament.
Peacocks have a fan club
St. Peters broke a lot of brackets with his disappointment in Kentucky. He gained a following and fan following at UMBC, who in 2018 became the only No. 16 seed to defeat the No. 1 seed in the tournament.
