Former Globo reporter Marcos Uchôa opened his heart and shared his thoughts on the changes in the channel’s esports division driven by Tiago Leifert, when the young journalist ran Globo Esporte in the early 2010s, eventually giving the format a facelift to highlight competitions with a more relaxed approach.

“Look, I’ll say this: I didn’t like it. He turned Globo Esporte into Tiago Leifert’s show, which may have had many results in terms of audience, I don’t know,” said the veteran in an interview with the Cara a Tapa channel, from Rica Perrone, this Tuesday ( 9). In the panel that Uchôa attended, the guest had to take notes on a few personalities, and Leifert was one of them.

For the former Globo, the house’s sports journalism was directly affected by the newcomer’s vision: “I didn’t like it journalistically. Vision, but sport also has a very strong cultural side, for a kid like that… About what’s right and what’s wrong is. These things need to be reported and I think he killed the story in his proposal. I admire the person, the talent of his, but I think he has damaged sports journalism. I give seven,” the journalist scored.

Leifert took over the moderation of Globo Esporte in 2009. The newcomer would have come on a mission to reverse the program’s viewership decline, so he opted for a more relaxed style. The strategy worked and Leifert remained at the helm of the program for six years. After this period, he moved to Globo’s entertainment center presenting The Voice Brasil, then moved to BBB and stayed there from 2017 to 2021 when he left the channel.
