Margareth Menezes becomes culture minister in the Lula government

Margareth Menezes rose to fame in the 80’s with the hit “Pharaoh Divinity of Egypt”, has released more than 10 albums, received several Grammy nominations and completed more than 20 international tours.

She is the founder and President of Fábrica Social, a Bahiabased NGO working in the field of culture, education and sustainability.

She also directs Mercado Iaô, a cultural production agency operating in the state, and is an ambassador for IOVUNESCO, a group that aims to preserve and promote cultural production in all its forms.

In 2022, the Bahian singersongwriter was voted one of the 100 most influential black people in the world on the list of the most influential people of African descent (MIPAD).

MIPAD “identifies high performers of African descent in the public and private sectors around the world as a progressive network of relevant actors to unite in the spirit of recognition, justice and development of Africa, its people of the continent and its diaspora.”
