COVID-19 has changed things for Ms. Picard. Since the pandemic, she says, “we’ve been alone in the studio whereas before we had our partner […] and we talked.”

She also says it’s harder to recover from viruses at her age.

She says she doesn’t know what condition she would be in if she waited another year after reporting living with the effects of long-lasting COVID.

“I don’t want to deprive viewers of their favorite show,” she said.

“I admit that I prefer the Quebec version because we don’t do a Joual at all, quite the opposite. We speak French but with our accent.

“I think it has transmitted the mistakes of the Americans through ours. We’d swear we were ugly here in Quebec watching the show,” she admits.

The actress plays the legendary mother one last time on TVA Nouvelles to offer her Happy New Year wishes in the video above.

“My dear friends, I wish you a Happy New Year there! Take the time to have fun, laugh, dance, huh! And even if you don’t have anything to do, have fun anyway!” she orders happily.
