Since Shakespeare’s time Desdemona it’s a character that generates unhealthy gossip. In this case it is a literary tragedy, but the story of Desdemona Balzano is a much less stately affair. In fact, the ex-protagonist of Maria De Filippi’s Men & Women was kicked out of the studio after Armando Incarnato exposed her, bringing with him audio evidence and chats in which the woman demonstrated her intentions of popularity and certainly not of love intentions. In particular, he votes with his manager about the behavior he should have had on the show. Gianni Sperti, the show’s columnist, listened to the offending tone and was thrilled: “He says the show is very trashy and isn’t what it used to be. He says Claudio was sent away badly, I don’t know who he means. Then he says I don’t know if they’re pushing Armando over to me. He says: “I sincerely if he asks me out I would love to go out but never a story with him. You know the reasons I’m on this show, the longer I stay the better.
Immediately after leaving the crime scene, Desdemona told her truth: “I was dazed, I didn’t understand what was happening. The only thing I understood was that there were audios of me that I didn’t consent to it being played because I didn’t know what it was. If Maria De Filippi thought you shouldn’t be in the studio, that’s fine. I respect you, and in fact I haven’t sued you. I didn’t even sue the editors and Fascino. As for the audio, it is an excerpt of a private telephone conversation with Alessandro Schiavone that was recorded”.

If the De Filippi should she escape, this will not apply to Armando Incarnato and Gianni Sperti, who will take Desdemona to court, because the two would have disseminated private content without the woman’s consent: “I had not consented to Gianni Sperti listening to this tone. I said “no” three times because I wanted to hear them before deciding if I should let someone else hear them. The content of this audio, although not publicly reproduced, was made public as Gianni Sperti related and commented on what he had heard. I sued him along with Alessandro Schiavone and Armando Incarnato.” Not only that, Desdemona also claims that the reported information was falsified: “Taking five sentences of an hour-long conversation is tantamount to decontextualizing it. One cannot extract from it and interpret it in a way that changes the meaning. […] I never said that. I said, “I’ll try to stay there as long as possible.” But I said that months before. It can also mean that I planned to meet as many people as possible, not that I planned to stay there to be famous. The visibility? I signed a contract saying I would not receive any compensation but that I would be able to enjoy the visibility that the show offers. That’s what the contract says, everyone on the ground floor signs it. As for love, I found it on the show, so the format works.”
