María Kodama died in Argentina

The translator, writer and universal heiress to Jorge Luis Borges died last Sunday, March 26, in the city of Vicente López, Buenos Aires, Argentina, at the age of 86, as confirmed by her lawyer Fernando Soto on her Twitter account. According to the newspaper El Mundo, Borges’ executor died of complications from cancer.

On April 26, 2006, the writer also attended a luncheon hosted by director Miguel Franjul at the Listín Diario, which was also attended by other executives, civil servants, and journalists.

When asked about his relationship with the great writer, Kodama affirmed, “Borges loved me very much, he told me very tender and beautiful things, things that I only keep to myself.”
