Not even the American diva Mariah Carey was spared from the interference of an antagonist in her love story with Bryan Tanaka: difference in age. The eternal Christmas queen and her partner have decided to end their seven-year relationship, a source close to the couple told PageSix this week. The dancer, 14 years his junior, has begun to develop a vision for the future of his life that does not match the singer's plans.
He, 40 years old. She is 54. It was almost impossible that such a big age difference wouldn't play a key role in their romantic relationship. “He wants to have a family. She's not there,” the source said, referring to the fact that Carey wouldn't want the same thing since she's already mother to 12-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with ex-husband Nick Cannon. Tanaka, for his part, has no children of his own.
Mariah and Bryan's relationship began in 2016, but they had known each other since 2006 when he worked as her backup dancer. Recently, however, there have been signs of tension, culminating in the split. This week, the Queen of Christmas surprised the public with a solo trip to Aspen, Colorado; while Tanaka was on his “Merry Christmas One and All!” tour, which kicked off last November at the Yaamava Resort & Casino in Highland, California.

“He wants to start his own life,” another source told PageSix about Tanaka’s key role in the split. This rift adds to previous speculation about problems in the relationship, including Carey's statements to People earlier this month in which she admitted she had had a difficult year.
“I've been waiting for this Christmas all year. Since last year, because last year wasn’t the best,” he said. “I'm grateful for everyone, but it wasn't my funniest version of Christmas,” she commented, looking ahead to the 2022 celebrations. However, the “We Belong Together” singer promised to “have fun” during the 2023 celebrations “. . whatever happens”.
The breakup between Carey and Tanaka is not the first: in 2017, shortly after the start of their relationship, the artist briefly separated from the dancer and then quickly reconciled. This time, however, it appears to be a definitive end point. The last time they were seen together was during the All I Want For Christmas Is You star's birthday at the end of March last year.

Despite her recent failure in love, Mariah Carey's reign as the absolute ruler of Christmas remains strong and promises to last for a long time to come. Like every year, the legendary diva brings her festive charm wherever she goes, and this year the White House is set to be no exception.
Last week, Carey traveled to Washington DC as part of a visit filled with Christmas splendor and joy after wrapping up her Christmas tour this Sunday, December 17th. She was received by United States President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, while she was accompanied by her 12-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe.
“Last week I had the pleasure of meeting President Biden and Vice President Harris at the White House to ring in the holiday season! During this time we were able to see all the festive decorations and spread some cheer!,” he wrote alongside three Christmas emojis.
