Marie-Josée Lord accompanies Mario Pelchat and Patrick Bruel in the Christmas show “Parapapam”

The soprano Marie-Josée Lord sings Christmas in the show together with Patrick Bruel, Mario Pelchat and Vladimir Kornéev Parapapam who will presented in Montreal next December.

There was a festive atmosphere during the rehearsal of the Parapapam press conference on Tuesday morning. Trees, sparkling decorations and Christmas logs were reminiscent of the Christmas season, all accompanied by excerpts from symbolic Christmas pieces that will be part of these major concerts.

A moving Christmas

If Mario Pelchat chose to sing the song “White Christmas”, it was as a tribute to his mother, who died in September 2019 at the age of 77, with whom he was very close and who loved Christmas.

“Yesterday I cried in rehearsal, but this morning I managed it, even though I felt the emotions rising. I will sing it to her on stage,” admits the 60-year-old singer, whose eyes fill with tears.

The coach, who will be back with La Voix, was also supposed to sing Minuit Chrétien solo, but changed his mind after trying with three voices in rehearsal. “I think our three worlds fit together well,” explains the artist, who says he has embraced more of his pop niche over the years.

The performer and producer only has good words for Marie-Josée Lord, with whom he had never sung a duet before.

“She is a girl I adore, a lovely and true woman who, in addition to her great voice, has all the human qualities. And when she sings, it seems so easy (laughs). It’s so powerful,” says the man, who continues his tour to celebrate his 40th career anniversary.

Around a hundred singers and musicians

More than 100 singers and musicians will be on stage with the star artist quartet next December. The FILMharmonique orchestra is led by the young 26-year-old conductor Francis Choinière.

Absent due to filming a television series in France, Patrick Bruel spoke to those present via video conference from Paris. The Who has the right interpreter says he can’t wait to sing Christmas, especially in Quebec. It will also be the first time he shares the stage with his friend Mario Pelchat.

“Patrick Bruel and I have several things in common. The family, the wine, the professional philosophy, we are both producers. We come together on many levels,” explains Mario Pelchat, who will also continue his tribute tour to Aznavour, which was canceled during the pandemic (the French-Armenian singer would have turned 100 in 2024).

“I’m really honored to sing with Mario Pelchat because I’m a groupie. “It’s like chocolate honey when he sings,” says Marie-Josée Lord, laughing.

She promises to bring out her most beautiful dress to celebrate Christmas on stage and be well surrounded.

“I like singing at Christmas. Especially with a choir of 100 people, it gives power and presence. It lifts people up and I’m sure the audience will cry,” she adds.

The singer is busy and has just put the finishing touches on her new show “Les chants de mon pays”; a tribute concert to Quebec lyricists, singers and poets who are part of his childhood culture adopted from Haiti to Quebec.
