Marie Osmond reiterates her refusal to leave inheritance to her children: “You can’t buy self-esteem” – Fox News

Marie Osmond may not leave her children a bundle of money, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t help them out financially.

Osmond previously said that leaving a large inheritance to their children would only “hurt” them.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Osmond doubled down on her statement.

“I just think you’re preventing them from finding out who they are, and you can’t buy self-esteem,” she shared. “This is my opinion. I think when I leave this life, I want my children to know that they can take care of themselves.”

The former Donny & Marie star made it clear that she has helped her children financially throughout their lives.

“Does that mean I won’t help them on their journey? Of course not. My children are all – they have wonderful jobs that they love. They are very passionate and I am so proud of each and every one of them,” Osmond said.

Osmond is the mother of eight children: Stephen (40), Jessica (36), Rachael (34), Brandon (27), Brianna (25), Matthew (24) and Abigail (21). She also had a son, Michael, who died in 2010.

Marie was married three times. Marie and her husband Steve Craig remarried in 2011 after divorcing in 1985 after three years of marriage. Before she remarried her first husband, Osmond married Brian Blosil in 1986. The couple separated in 2007.

Marie isn’t the only Hollywood star who refuses to leave a large inheritance to children. But some stars, like Kelsey Grammer, disagree with her.

Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis

In 2020, Ashton Kutcher announced that he and his wife Mila Kunis have no plans to set up a foundation for their two children and donate their earnings to charity.

Speaking on Dax Shephard’s The Armchair Expert podcast, Kutcher said: “My kids live really privileged lives and they don’t even know it.”

“And they’ll never know because this is the only one they know. I’m not setting up a foundation for them. In the end, we will give our money away to charity and various causes.”

The “That ’70s Show” star said he would consider investing in his children’s future business plans, but leaving them a lump sum is out of the question.

“If my children want to start a business and have a good business plan, I will invest in it. But they don’t get trust. So hopefully they’ll be motivated to have what they had, or a version of what they had,” Kutcher said.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, the couple is worth $275 million.

Daniel Craig

In 2020, Daniel Craig admitted he finds leaving an inheritance to children “disgusting” and plans to “get rid of it or give it away” before his death.

“I don’t want to leave large sums of money to the next generation,” he said in an interview with Saga Magazine at the time.

Elton John and his husband David Furnish firmly believe that their two sons, Zachary and Elijah, can support themselves.

In an interview with Mirror in 2016, John said: “Having children changed everything in my life. I learned that the simplest things in life – like spending a minute with them – are worth more than any painting, any photo, any house or any hit album.

The famous musician noted that he does not plan to give away his entire fortune, but will help his sons.

“Obviously I want to leave my boys in a very solid financial position,” John said at the time. “But it’s a terrible thing to give children a silver spoon. This is ruining their lives.”

Kelsey Grammer

On the other hand, there are stars like Kelsey Grammer who are quite willing to leave their entire savings to their children.

In an interview with Fox News Digital in February, Grammer addressed the heated debate over whether celebrities should leave their fortune to their children. Kelsey believes in passing on his wealth.

“My children will receive their inheritance,” the “Frasier” star assured.

Grammer, who has been married four times, shares his eldest child, daughter Spencer Grammer, 39, with his first wife Doreen Alderman. He is also father to 30-year-old daughter Greer Grammer, whom he shares with his ex-girlfriend Barrie Buckner.
