The Prime Minister Mario Draghi flew to Jerusalem where he visited Prime Minister Bennett. But not only. The former ECB number one would have used this trip to make a warm appeal to his interlocutor: a mediation proposal with Moscow for the end of the war in Ukraine. In fact, the connection between Russia and Israel is really solid. And – as Repubblica reports – it could serve to bring Putin back to the negotiating table and promote a ceasefire.
The Italian Prime Minister’s trip would also serve to find first-hand information for Israel, which would speak frequently with the Russian President. Draghi’s agenda there seems pretty busy. First the meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, then the meeting with Foreign Minister Yair Lapid. The Prime Minister spoke to both of them about Israel’s possible role in the negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow. Bennett’s country could play alongside Erdogan’s Turkey basic role in the switching room, which Western intelligence services say could take place between July 15 and 30.
Meanwhile, Draghi reiterates his full support for Kyiv and supports his entry into Europe.
