It was announced last June that longtime showrunner Warren Leight was stepping down from the role.

It was later revealed that David Graziano would replace the entertainment industry figure.

The show’s upcoming 24th season is currently scheduled to premiere on September 22nd.

Hargitay spoke about the series’ popularity during an interview with Parade, where she offered her thoughts on why the program had taken so long.

She explained, “SVU resonates because it’s a path to healing and a path to survival. Each week, Olivia Benson and the team demonstrate an environment of compassion, sympathy and justice.”

The performer then explained that the program also served to highlight instances of injustice and what could be done in the future.

“The conversations the show inspires have led to greater awareness and understanding of the issues. And every disclosure is a chance to show that a victim can be believed,” she said.
