Married At First Sight UK’s Lara Eyre spoke about her experience at this year’s edition of the show, calling her match Richie Dews a “fake”.
The 50-year-old waitress described the guitarist as “playing in front of the cameras” while on the dating show, as she admitted her irritation at being “thrown under the bus” by him.
After what appeared to be a good start, the couple decided to leave the show in its second week as they were struggling to make things work as a married couple.
‘He threw me under the bus’: Married At First Sight’s Lara, 50, has called her former husband Richie Dews ‘fake’ and ‘dishonest’ when she claims he acted in front of the cameras
Richie and Lara first met at the altar and hit it off right away as they tied the knot during the unconventional dating show.
However, the latter appeared somewhat unnerved by her new husband’s lack of dating experience, with the musician admitting that he has never been in love or in a long-term relationship.
And during the second engagement ceremony, single mom Lara called the former rocker a “great guy” but admitted he wasn’t right for her – when they decided to split.
But the Canadian native has now explained there was a lot more going on off screen, claiming that Richie “acted in front of the cameras” and was “completely different” during filming and wasn’t.
She revealed to The Sun: “It felt like dating a TV presenter because Richie was always acting when they were filming and worried about how people would perceive him.

“When the cameras were off Richie kept to himself and wasn’t as enthusiastic or caring, he didn’t ask about me much except when they were filming. How do you make a relationship work when someone is performing? I was there to be real and he wanted to look amazing.”
Just a day before they decided to leave the show, Lara and Richie attended the couple’s weekly dinner party separately – which was a strong indication of the fractures in the relationship.
But when Richie first got to the party, Lara shared that she was “hurt” when the musician first spoke to her co-stars – as he explained he “didn’t know” where his wife was during the party .

Revealing that Richie was wary of his image, she implored her not to say “bad things” about him while they formed a united front, and spoke of her shock when they arrived at the dinner party.
Explaining: “It was a bit of a shock when I got to the dinner party and he had thrown me under the bus. I was pretty upset when I looked back at that.
Lara also explained how she wishes the show would be filmed in a similar way to Love Island, with 24/7 cameras to ensure less acting.
Caution: “Richie always told me, ‘Please don’t say anything bad about me,’ and was aware that he wanted to uphold how great we are,” she continued
