The man, who retired in 2019, revealed this during his appearance on the “I Am Athlete” podcast.

Lynch also said the NFL threatened to fine him $500,000 if he refused to show up for media day before Super Bowl XLIX. At that time he wore the colors of the Seattle Seahawks.

The threat prompted Lynch to appear before the press, but he answered all questions with the phrase, “I’m only here so I don’t get a fine.”

“The fines I received last season started piling up. It was quite a large sum, $1.2 million. Just because he refused to talk to the media,” Lynch explained of his behavior before the final game of the 2014 season.

Lynch began his career with the Buffalo Bills in 2007 but had his prime with the Seahawks. He played for this formation from 2010 to 2015, retiring in 2019, playing two campaigns for the Oakland Raiders between his two stints in Seattle.

The 36-year-old rushed for 10,413 yards and 85 rushing touchdowns in 149 games. He also caught 287 passes for 2,214 yards and nine majors.
