Dexter Scott King, third son of Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, died this Monday (22) at the age of 62. The activist battled prostate cancer and died at his home in Malibu, California.
“He gave everything and fought against this terrible disease until the end. As with all challenges in his life, he overcame this obstacle with courage and strength,” his wife Leah Weber King told CNN International in a statement from the King Center, a memorial to MLK.
Leah told TMZ that the activist's heir died peacefully in his sleep by his side. Dexter's brother, Martin Luther King III, said in a statement: “I am deeply saddened to announce that my brother, Dexter Scott King, has passed away. The sudden shock is devastating. At a time like this it is difficult to find the right words. Please keep the entire King family in your prayers, especially Dexter’s wife Leah Weber.”
