Martin Matte caused a stir on Thursday evening when he hosted the premiere of his new talk show Martin Matte live. Before greeting his friend Patrick Huard, who was the guest of the evening, he chatted with a fake Éric Salvail, a professional firefighter, with whom he talked about hoses and penises!
The tone was set by the 53-year-old comedian, who was full of fire and self-confidence and hid his nervousness well. As soon as he arrived on set, he received a round of applause before his opening performance, which undoubtedly gave him a good dose of energy for the hour that followed.

Martin Matte was very well prepared, sharp, irreverent and stuck to the news when talking about inflation. In the opening number, among other things, it was said that HBO should find the replacement for the actor Dubbledore, Michael Gambon, who died on Thursday, in the person of Manon Massé.
We felt that the host was in complete control and that his stage experience served him well in his three solo shows. Just like his sense of repartee, which enabled him to get back on his feet during the interview part, which was a completely new dimension for him. Luckily for Martin Matte, Patrick Huard was a generous guest who didn’t let his host down. The former presenter of La Tour knows the song and even came back to Rambo Gauthier, who had called him a “faggot” in a section where he had to read out the answers prepared for him. Martin Matte remembered that he admired his guest, who was once his role model. He asked him about his professional failures. Huard told him that he always thought his career was over. The host reminded him that he had declined the invitation to his wedding to Anik Jean and emphasized that he would be at their next wedding!

There was also talk about Huard’s brothers and second cousins… Then we talked about Sophie Grégoire, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s ex, with whom Huard was already in a relationship. “I’m just one seed away from power!” replied Huard, receiving his framed organigrain.
