Marvel has deleted Netflix credits from Defenders shows on Disney+… and fans have taken notice

While watching Jessica Jones, a fan notes that the opening credits were not fully edited to remove Netflix’s name from the Marvel series.

A Disney+ viewer notes that the streaming platform has cut the Netflix logo from the opening credits of Marvel shows like Jessica Jones.

In early March, all of Netflix’s Marvel shows were removed from the streaming platform, eventually landing on Disney+ on March 16. While watching the Season 1 Jessica Jones episode “AKA Crush Syndrome” on Disney+, a fan noticed that the Netflix name hadn’t been completely removed from the opening credits sequence and posted on Reddit. However, for other episodes of the series and shows like Daredevil and Luke Cage, these credits have been stripped completely without a trace.

At the time of writing, “AKA Crush Syndrome” is the only episode singled out for having discernible evidence of digital editing. However, there are many episodes for shows like Jessica Jones that are now available on Disney+. Jessica Jones and Daredevil both ran for three 13-episode seasons, while outside of the limited series The Defenders, Luke Cage, and The Punisher both ran for two seasons of equivalent episodes before being canceled. Iron Fist is the only other exception to the rule, as the second season ran three fewer episodes than the first.

The previous Netflix series coming to Disney+ also marks a major shift for the platform in the United States. Until March 16, TV-MA-rated series weren’t streaming on the platform in the country, prompting Disney+ to update its parental controls once the Marvel shows became available. Now the ability to watch rated R movies or TV-MA series must be enabled for viewers to access this mature content.

The series’ move to Disney+ also comes at a time when Daredevil fans have seen beloved characters and actors return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In December, actors Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox returned as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin and Matt Murdock, respectively. While Kingpin faced off against Clint Barton and Kate Bishop in Hawkeye on Disney+, Matt Murdock served as Peter Parker’s attorney in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The blind lawyer/vigilante is also said to be involved in numerous upcoming projects, including a Daredevil reboot.

As for the return of other heroes from the former Netflix shows, there has been rumor and speculation that she will return, Jessica Jones, with actress Krysten Ritter reprising her role as the overpowered private investigator. Ritter has previously said that she “would just die to play Jessica again,” and her recent hairstyle change has fueled speculation from fans as it closely resembles Jones’. The character was rumored to be returning in the upcoming She-Hulk series, but this was apparently debunked in December 2021.

Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders and The Punisher are all streaming now on Disney+.
