According to the podcast The clockwho conducted an interview with Joanna RobinsonAuthor of the book MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studioswhich tells several details about the background of Marvel’s superhero productions, the studio was shocked by the reception of AntMan and the Wasp: Quantumania:

“Marvel Studios thought they had had a huge success with AntMan 3 and were shocked when the film was heavily criticized by the press and fans.”
