Just days after Disney quietly confirmed that all of Marvel’s Netflix shows will be migrating to Disney Plus for Canadian audiences this March, we now know when all six of the series will make a similar leap to Disney’s own streaming service in the United States.
Today, Disney announced that in mid-March, Derdeville, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron fist, Defenders, The punisherand ABC SHIELD agents will start streaming Disney Plus along with all the other Marvel superhero programs, a sign that can indicate the future of these characters in MCU. In a press release shared this morning, Disney’s streaming president, Michael Paul, described the upcoming IP return as a further unification of the Marvel brand and as a kind of evolution of Disney Plus as a platform.
“We’ve been very successful with Disney Plus in our global markets, and we’ll continue to do so here in the United States, offering our users not only great content, but a range of features that help provide the most enjoyable viewing experience. “Suitable for them and their families,” Paul said.
Disney Plus content is generally much more targeted to younger audiences in the United States than other countries such as Canada, where the platform includes the more adult-oriented Star Content Center. Therefore, Disney is also preparing to introduce a new set of parental controls, including restrictions on profile-specific assessments, individual user profile PIN locking, and Exit Against Children issues, designed to prevent children from messing with adult settings. .
Given how graphical former Netflix impressions are compared to their Marvel-based cousins, it makes sense for Disney to take similar steps. Interestingly, however, the studio chose the Disney Plus route instead of moving Defenders and so on. to Hulu, where R-rated movies and TV-MA shows with Marvel characters like Deadpool and MODOK currently live.
Derdeville, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron fist, Defenders, The punisher, SHIELD agentsand all new parental control features are set to hit Disney Plus on March 16th.
