Marvel blew us away in 2020 with the first chapter of Spider-Man adventures, intended for the new generation of PlayStation consoles. Not only does PS5 technology deliver more realistic visuals than ever before, but the DualSense controller’s features – namely haptic feedback and adaptive triggers – make the experience infinitely more immersive and immersive.
And today we’re taking the use of these elements to the next level with Mavel’s Spider-Man 2, undoubtedly the most anticipated PS5 game of the year. Although the bar was high, it is easily exceeded. An observation that becomes clear in the first minutes of the adventure.

For beginners and regular guests
Because Spider-Man immediately shows his colors and pulls the player into the middle of the action as soon as a new game starts. We review the key controls in a frantic battle against the Sandman, allowing beginners to get started while refreshing the memory of regular players without forcing them through a series of boring tutorials. A brilliant idea.
This new chapter picks up the story where the first game left off and takes us back to the heart of New York, where new threats lurk. But this time, Mile Morales can count on the help of Peter Parker to face a series of familiar villains, including Kraven, the Lizard and Venom. During his adventure, the player switches between the two heroes, each with different devices and abilities. Result: a varied experience and less chance of combat becoming unnecessary.

It must be said that by developing the plot in an open world, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 prevents it from becoming linear or repetitive. The player can thus carry out his various missions in the order he wishes, putting them aside as he explores the different sectors of the Big Apple, from Brooklyn to Queens, via Chinatown or a trip to Central Park.
Excitement in New York
On this second route we can also admire the attention to detail that has been used to recreate the excitement of the American metropolis that we travel from one end to the other on foot or in the air. In addition to being able to swing from the end of his web, Spider-Man now has a brand new movement mechanism: delta webs. This allows him to hover over skyscrapers and float with the air currents. It’s faster, it’s extremely fluid. And you can admire the breathtaking, frankly impressive landscapes.
We were surprised at how many hours of play were dedicated to fighting the crimes of New York at the helm of heroes in tights: more than twenty. In a word: we did not see time pass. And we know full well that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has a few dozen more in store for us, which we’ll surely enjoy with just as much appetite.
In short, a must for all fans… and anyone who owns a PS5 console.
