“The Walking Dead” and “Invincible” star Steven Yeun has reportedly exited Marvel’s upcoming anti-hero team-up film “Thunderbolts.”
According to sources who spoke to , Yeun will not star in Thunderbolts, although it has been all but confirmed that he is playing Sentry, perhaps the most powerful but dangerous superhero in all of Marvel.
did not give an explicit reason for Yeun's discontinued involvement in the film, but pointed to the delay of Thunderbolts caused by the writers and actors strikes in 2023 that effectively brought Hollywood to a standstill.
Thunderbolts stars David Harbor as Red Guardian, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Wyatt Russell's US Agent and Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes as Suicide Squad-style anti-Avengers to see team.
Yeun's role was never confirmed by Marvel, but it was widely reported based on inside information before The Walking Dead creator Robert revealed that Yeun was set to play the role of Sentry.
The role is expected to be recast, but it's unclear whether Sentry was a supporting role intended to later set up a larger project, or whether Thunderbolts starred him as the main character.
