The scifi blockbuster World of Chaos starring Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland was released
It took a decade for the scifi film “World of Chaos” to hit the big screen since 2011, the Lionsgate studio has been trying to film the novel by author Patrick Ness. However, the project suffered from a complicated development process for a long time.
In 2021, Mundo em Chaos should have hit theaters with greater impact, but the exhibition window was a total mess. Just four weeks after its release in select regions, the film went straight to streaming, starring Daisy Ridley (Star Wars’ Rey) and Tom Holland (SpiderMan in the Marvel Cinematic Universe).
World in Chaos takes you into a fascinating science fiction world
The original book has an interesting premise: “Mundo em Chaos” takes us to an alien planet where only men live and no trace of the existence of women. Also, men can hear each other’s thoughts.
An unexpected event initiates the plot: Viola, played by Daisy Ridley, is a girl who suddenly appears in this man’s world and thus triggers unimaginable conflicts. In particular, she poses a threat to the Mayor of Prentisstown (Mads Mikkelsen) as the entire town hides a dark past.
Those teenage sagas that will never end
Mundo em Chaos enchants with its strange concept
At first glance, World in Chaos looks like a late adaptation of a teenage film. If the movie had been made in the mid2010s, it would have jumped right into the wave of The Hunger Games, Divergent, Maze Runner, and the like. Now it seems that a remnant of that era has been lost in a new decade.
Director Doug Liman, who has shown a penchant for conceptual ideas with films like Edge of Tomorrow, Jumper and more recently Lockdown, doesn’t shy away from the quirks of World in Chaos either. On the contrary, he incorporates them into his production. The thoughts we hear and see through the shimmering veils are not gimmicks, but a vital part of this world. Once we get used to the film’s unusual pacing, it pulls us into this world.
World in Chaos offers plenty of action and adventure, but the most exciting part of the film is when it suddenly hides the thoughts of certain characters from us. In a story where everything is expressed through sound, nothing is more frightening than silence.
