Masked Singer judges shocked at double Elimineens secret singing skills

The Group A round of The Masked Singer Season 7 ended in an exciting, if seemingly premature, double elimination on Wednesday. And following earlier this season’s puzzling revelations from Food Network star Duff “McTerrier” Goldman and sportscaster Joe “The Ram” Buck, this week’s outcasts were once again not professional singers. But just as Duff and Joe showed some surprisingly strong singing skills, these latest contestants proved they have secret singing skills too.

I had previously guessed that the first celebrity eliminated this week was from Team Bad, the Cyclops, Hootie & The Blowfish frontman and country solo star Darius Rucker. This week, Judge Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, who has a pretty solid track record, said, “I think we should know that voice,” insisting, “It has to be a musician!” Jenny even suggested it was the “big one.” country rock star” Zac Brown acted. But the Cyclops turned out to be… actor Jorge Garcia, aka Hurley from Lost.

Jorge’s only real connection to music is when he appeared on the Hurley album cover of his favorite band Weezer – a life highlight he vaguely referenced in this week’s clue pack. But he threw off all the judges when, instead of making a Weezer song, he “relived that joy” by belting out … Irene Cara’s Flashdance theme. However, the judges were totally amazed when they learned the real identity of the green-eyed monster. “What a feeling! It was electric!” gushed Nicole Scherzinger. So Jorge definitely took his passion and made it possible, even if he didn’t make it to the end.

I had guessed that Wednesday’s second eliminator, Team Cuddly’s Thingamabob, was wrestler-turned-fozzy heavy metal vocalist Chris Jericho — as was Jenny. But it turned out to be another chattering athlete, Philadelphia Eagles player Jordan Mailata. Judge Ken Jeong described Jordan’s rendition of MKTO’s retro-pop hit Classic as “fun and effortless,” and after Thingamabob’s blind exposure, host Nick Cannon exclaimed, “Who knew you had those kinds of skills? That voice man! We would never know. … This bandwidth! That ability!”

The story goes on

As for the ‘Final Showdown’ before Group A’s elimination, all three contestants faced off on James Brown’s ‘I Got You (I Feel Good)’ and it was shockingly close – judge Robin Thicke said they all ‘did the butt sung”. out!” But Team Goods Firefly ended up being the last mask of Group A, and I have no doubts that this contestant is a true professional singer and seasoned entertainer. The judges guessed that Firefly was Alicia Keys, Ciara or Keyshia Cole could be acting… but I’m convinced it’s Teyana Taylor.

The Firefly has “always been a shining star” and has revealed Pharrell Williams was a key figure in her early career – and Teyana signed to Pharrell’s Star Trak Entertainment record label back in 2005. One of this week’s clues was a frame photo of Kanye West, and Teyana has also been signed to the Yes GOOD Music label, sung on West’s album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and practically destroyed the internet when she starred in his sexy “Fade” video occurred.

Firefly’s previous visual cues have included a program guide for the Apollo Theater and the Statue of Liberty (Teyana was born in Harlem and appeared on It’s Showtime at the Apollo in 2008); a framed photo of Tyler Perry (Teyana starred in Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family); and a fire alarm (Teyana choreographed Beyoncé’s “Ring the Alarm” music video.) Both Jenny and Nicole have praised the Firefly’s “dancer’s legs,” “nice thighs,” and masterful choreo, and Teyana is an extremely fit professional dancer and former American Judge for Best Dance Crew. Plus, this glowing, Tinkerbell-esque creature’s resonant, raspy voice — as seen on this week’s “I Got You” and her solo performance of Charlie Puth’s “Attention” — sounds just like the attention-grabbing Teyana.

And so Firefly will fly into the semifinals, and Nicole excitedly predicted that “she’ll go all the way!” But before that round, Group B will start competing next Wednesday, when we meet some new mystery celebrity cosplayers from Team Good, Team Bad and Team Cuddly will meet – like Queen Cobra, Frog Prince, Space Bunny, Baby Mammoth, Miss Teddy, and what’s been hyped as the “most out of control costume in Masked Singer history,” the Hydra. (Side note: In this seventh season, this show is obviously running out of character names.) See you then, while the guessing game continues.
