MasterChef stars Adam Liaw and Poh Ling Yeow launch a new cooking show as they travel Down Under in search of Australia’s national dish
Adam Liaw and Poh Ling Yeow have teamed up again for big new SBS television project Great Australian Bites.
The dream team is reunited in Australia after their huge success in Malaysia, which premiered in 2021, Yahoo Lifestyle reported on Friday.
After becoming fast friends on back-to-back seasons of MasterChef over a decade ago, the celebrity chefs are on the hunt for local cuisine.
“The premise is quite simple: What is Australia’s national dish?” Adam, 44, said.
“We think of other countries and other cuisines and we kind of forget that Australian cuisine is both amazing and totally unique.”

The Malaysian-born chef said he and Poh, 49, intend to travel the country and sample countless dishes as they try to define Australian cuisine.
“We’re talking kebabs, we’re talking spaghetti bolognese, we’re talking roast lamb — we’re looking at the everyday foods that everyday people cook every day.”
Adam said he’s also incredibly excited to be working with his dear friend Poh again as they “got on really well” during filming.

Adam and Poh’s first time on camera together was during their first SBS food show Malaysia in Australia, which premiered in October 2021.
In each episode, culinary greats embark on a quest for the freshest Australian produce while recreating popular Malaysian dishes like beef rendang and roti canai.
In between their cooking nights, fans got expert tips from Malaysian expats, farmers and even Hollywood superstar Remy Hii.

“This is the first time Poh and I have been in front of the camera together, so it was tremendous fun doing this series,” Adam said in a statement at the time.
“It is also a valuable opportunity to highlight the ties between Australia and Malaysia, two nations that share a long history and are so special to both of us.”
Meanwhile, Poh said she’s most excited about bringing together the best of Australian produce and Malaysian flavors.
“We have such amazing produce right here in our own backyard, but what never ceases to amaze me is how even the smallest of places can create delicious experiences.”
