‘What the hell happened?’ MasterChef viewers lamented a “pretentious” meal that gave judges HEADPHONES to put on while they ate a snowball dessert
MasterChef viewers rolled their eyes at a “pretentious” meal served on Thursday’s episode.
The group has been tasked with preparing some desserts to impress the judges as finals week approaches.
Terri, 30, from County Down, Northern Ireland, made a ‘snowball’ dessert made from rice pudding in a white chocolate coating.
To give the judges a ‘colder’ experience, they were served headphones during the meal that played winter sounds.
It seemed to have had an effect on guests, with one noting, “You feel so cold you want something warm to warm you up.”

John Torrode also praised Terri after tasting the dish: “Wow, that’s so good. Exceptional taste of rice pudding on the inside, but a white chocolate shell.”
However, the whimsical setup didn’t sit well with viewers, who were both confused and unfazed by the “boring” setup.
Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote, “God this food and the concept of it is so ridiculously pretentious. ‘No thanks.’
Another said: “This #MasterChef meal looks INCREDIBLY boring!” while another asked: “What the heck is going on?”
A fourth viewer joked, “I think I want some #MasterChef headphones.”
Terri described her cooking style as follows: “My cooking style is classic Irish/British/French food with a modern twist using flavors from around the world, especially Japan.”
“My food is inspired by places, people, ingredients and experiences.” “I love trying a new dish in a restaurant and creating my own version of it.”
When asked about her future aspirations, she added, “The dream… of being a food critic.” Who doesn’t want to eat for a living? Jokes aside, I would love to have a career in the food industry.

“I really enjoy writing recipes, trying weird and wonderful flavor combinations and would love to work in a professional kitchen environment.”
“Who knows what the future holds for me, but one way or another I want it to be food-related.”
At the end of the episode, judge Greg Wallace said, “Our five will never be the same chefs again.”
“There’s still a cooking error between them and a place in the final week.”
