The comedian Matheus Ceará announced this Saturday that he had resigned from SBT after 12 years at the station. He was one of the most famous characters in the show “A Praça É Nossa”, one of the country's most traditional comedy shows.
The announcement was made by the comedian himself in a post on social media in the form of an open letter to Carlos Alberto de Nóbrega, the show's host.
“This is perhaps to this day the saddest decision I have made in my life, to leave such a big channel, such a big program and, what is most painful, to leave you. “I believe that the friendship remains the same, but without the laughter about it, without the timekeeping, without the locker room gossip, without much else,” he wrote.
Ceará has been part of the regular cast of the show “A Praça É Nossa” since 2012 and jokes about various topics alongside Nóbrega on this famous park bench. He played the character of an immigrant from the Northeast who wore a bandit hat.
He owes his popularity primarily to the almost 6 million followers he has on Instagram. He had success much earlier, because in 2008 he took part in the “Festival de Joadas” in the program “Show do Tom”, which was shown on Record at the time. Before joining SBT, Ceará also won first place in the show “Quem Chega Lá” on Domingão do Faustão, which was then hosted by Fausto Silva on Globo.
