Some relationships are about certainty. When Mathieu Baron and Alexandra De Simon met seven years ago, they realized that they could rely on each other. This relationship of trust has never been broken over time. The lovers are ready to commit even more and are expecting their first child next February. And because happiness never comes easy, they are thinking about furnishing their first house, which they will take possession of next November. Another big news: they are expecting a child. Was this pregnancy planned?
Alexandra: I always wanted to have a child, but Mathieu wasn’t sure he wanted one.
Matthew: In the last few years I didn’t want it. Without going into details, I didn’t feel comfortable bringing a child into the world in the society we live in. But I did it. I have already bought several baby items… (smile)
Are you a Gaga Dad yet?
M.: Yes, I’m just waiting for the moment to hold this baby in my arms… We will raise him with our values. We are surrounded by good, positive people. All of this means that I couldn’t be happier that a “mini-we” is coming.
Alexandra, how is your pregnancy going?
HAS.: I am great. I am well surrounded. There are other pregnant girls around me. The first trimester was stressful for everyone, but otherwise things are going very well.
When does the baby arrive?
HAS.: End of February.
M.: To add to our happiness, we just bought a house. It’s a new chapter in our lives. We are excited and can hardly wait to write the next chapters together. This is a beautiful story. This is our first house together.
HAS.: Mathieu and I fell in love with this house.
M.: We loved the energy. It’s a quiet, quiet house. When the baby arrives we will be well settled. We will be moving into our house around November.
HAS.: Just in time to prepare our nest for the baby’s arrival.

Have you already started doing a little shopping for the upcoming baby?
HAS.: We have already bought clothes. We know the gender of the baby, but we want to keep it to ourselves for now. We haven’t bought the furniture yet: we’d rather wait until we’re in the house.
How did family and friends receive this wonderful news?
HAS.: Everyone was happy for us.
M.: We both come from blended families with six children. Everyone is happy for us. Three babies come to Alexandra’s family every two months. To think that my mother was convinced she would never be a grandmother! I didn’t want children. My brother Alexandre won’t have one because of his difference. My sister Dominique has a happy relationship with Mickaël, who I adore, but that’s not on the agenda. My mother therefore grieved the loss of being a grandmother.
How did she react when she found out?
M.: She was in shock. For the first 10 seconds she didn’t understand what it was about. I had bought a cake, I opened the box and it said “Mini us 2024” with the pregnancy test, but she still didn’t understand. I told him so much that I wouldn’t have children. My mother-in-law in Switzerland was also happy for us. She has already bought clothes for our baby, who obviously will not lack the love of her three grandmothers.
HAS.: We broke the news to both of our mothers at the same time. They were so happy…
