Mathieu Olivier met Mike Babcock a few times. Nothing unusual happened, everything went well.
However, when he heard about the experiences of some of his teammates, he had no choice but to join them.
“It’s clear, distinct and precise that there were things that didn’t work,” the Quebec forward said in an interview with JiC on Monday. Even those who had a real experience all came to the conclusion that there were things that were done that were not right.
The tough guy assures that the latest developments have not divided the dressing room, quite the opposite. When Captain Boone Jenner came out publicly to defend Babcock, it is important to understand that he did not yet know the whole truth about this story.
“At the time Boone made his statements, we didn’t have all the information,” Olivier said. When we discussed as a team and had all the information with the players’ association, our speech changed. We were all on the same page. It just motivated us as a team.”
Olivier is now happy to be managed by Pascal Vincent, who the Blue Jackets dressing room obviously knows very well.
“The players, we are all behind him 100%. This is a guy that everyone in the room liked. We are very lucky to have him.”
