During the promotion for the Oppenheimer tape Matt Damon He has given several interviews in which he shared the great impact this film had on his life and work. The last time Damon worked with Nolan was on Interstellar in 2014, so nearly ten years later he didn’t expect to call him out so abruptly.
“It may sound made up, but it’s actually true. I had negotiated extensively with my wife about taking some time off. I was on Interstellar and then Chris froze me for a couple of movies so I wasn’t on the rotation but I actually traded into couples therapy – that’s a true story – The only caveat for me taking time off would be if Chris Nolan calls. And without knowing if he’s working on something or not, because he never tells you. He calls you without warning.

Cillian Murphy, who will play Robert Oppenheimer in the long-awaited film, confirmed what Damon had said about Nolan’s particular habit of inviting actors to new projects in the most unexpected ways possible.
“Chris’ way of acting is that he calls you out of the blue. I had no idea. He told me he was making a film about Oppenheimer and he said, “I want you to play Oppenheimer.” I had to sit down. It was kind of overwhelming.
Damon’s job has caused family problems in the past. In a recent interview, he shared the details of one of the “worst movies he’s ever worked on,” in which he not only toyed with the idea of taking a break from filming for a while, but even contemplated quitting acting forever. However, it was his wife who encouraged him to continue in the Hollywood business.

The journey takes 15 hours and you give absolutely everything, even though you know that it will be a futile effort. And if you can do it with the best possible attitude then you’re a pro and she helped me a lot with that.”
Matt plays Damon in Oppenheimer Leslie Groves, an engineer and Army man responsible for overseeing the Manhattan Project. In an interview for Spoilertime, the actor shared more details about his role in the film and how it affects the character of Robert Oppenheimer.

“Since the first time I spoke to him Chris about the movie he told me that it was based on the book, American Prometheus, but that he wouldn’t call her that. I told him it was a great title. After reading the script, I saw that everything was written in the first person perspective. This was a subjective journey through this man’s eyes. That’s why we’re here to show the different sides of him. And that’s really tricky, but awesome.”
