Matt Riddle has confirmed that he has been released from WWE. He joined X and spread the word that he was no longer a superstar at the company.

WWE fired over 20 wrestlers on September 21, 2023, the largest wave of layoffs since 2021. Those fired included Dolph Ziggler, Shelton Benjamin, Mustafa Ali, Emma, Aliyah, Rick Boogs, Elias, Riddick Moss and Top Dolla, among others.
The layoffs came as part of a series of changes at WWE, including its merger with Endeavor. The layoffs were attributed to a combination of factors, including the need to cut costs and a lack of opportunities for laid-off fighters.

Matt Riddle and his WWE career
Matt Riddle has had a successful career in WWE since his debut in 2018. In NXT, he won the NXT Tag Team Championship with Pete Dunne in 2020. On the main roster, he won the United States Championship and the WWE Tag Team Championship in 2021. Raw with Randy Orton in 2021 and 2022.
However, Riddle’s career was filled with controversy outside of the ring. One of the most notable events occurred in 2021 when he was accused of sexual harassment by fighter Candy Cartwright. Cartwright claimed Riddle touched her several times without her consent. Riddle denied the allegations but was suspended by WWE for a month.
In 2023, Riddle was again accused of sexual harassment by his ex-wife Lisa Rennie. Rennie claimed that Riddle physically and emotionally abused her during their marriage. Riddle denied the allegations but was suspended again by WWE.
In addition to the sexual harassment allegations, Riddle has also been criticized for his marijuana use. In 2022, he failed a drug test and was suspended for 30 days.
