Matthew Perry was found underwater in his hot tub by his assistant, who lifted his head to give him some air, first responders revealed.
But when the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at the Friends star’s Pacific Palisades home on Saturday and lifted him from the hot tub, he was already dead.
Captain Erik Scott of the LAFD said, “City of Los Angeles firefighters responded.” [and] found an adult male unconscious in a freestanding hot tub.
“A bystander had lifted the man’s head above the water and brought him to the edge, then firefighters pulled him out of the water when they arrived.”

“The circumstances are being investigated by the LAPD and the LA County Medical Examiner.” “We grieve with families and friends who unexpectedly lose a loved one.”
Perry is believed to have drowned, but an official cause of death has not yet been determined.
An initial autopsy result has been “postponed” and toxicology reports are to follow. This came after a 15-second 911 call came in that revealed the moment his assistant called 911 to report a cardiac arrest.
Recording of the moment emergency responders rushed to the scene has been shared, detailing a drowning accident – known as Medical Emergency 9.

The Los Angeles County coroner has classified Perry’s cause of death as “deferred,” pending final toxicology test results.
On Sunday afternoon, the coroner released his body to the family but said the cause of death had not yet been determined.
The coroner’s office may release initial results within a few days, or it may take six to eight weeks to receive final results of toxicology tests.

Inside the $6 million California home where Matthew Perry finally found peace before his death: Friends star declared sober a year after purchasing stunning ocean-view Pacific Palisades apartment in 2020
Poignant photos show Matthew Perry enjoying his $6 million home in Pacific Palisades, where he was found dead over the weekend.
Perry purchased the property in August 2020 after downsizing from a far more luxurious penthouse and beach house in Malibu around the same time.
He was found dead in a hot tub on the property Saturday evening. Initial reports suggest the actor may have died, but coroners have not yet confirmed a cause of death.
Perry clearly enjoyed the property – which was relatively modest for such a famous and wealthy star.
In his latest Instagram post, he was relaxing in the hot tub at night, which offers a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean.

The 3,000-square-foot property on Blue Sail Drive was built in 1965 as a modest ranch-style home.
Pictures show it has since undergone a major makeover, with Perry putting his own personal stamp on the sprawling block.
He completely transformed the property, swapping light oak flooring for a darker wood and boho furniture for much bolder colors.
The stunning four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bathroom home sits on a hill overlooking the ocean. Many of the rooms offer panoramic views of the Pacific.
Before it was sold, it was described as embodying the “quintessential Southern California lifestyle,” while Pacific Palisades was home to numerous other celebrities.
Perry’s Friends co-star Matt LeBlanc also owned a mansion in the neighborhood before selling it in 2016.
The Chandler Bing actor’s property was significantly cheaper than his previous real estate holdings.
In 2020, he put his stunning Malibu home on the market for $14.95 million after purchasing it in an off-market deal for $12 million in 2011.
Like his previous beachfront home, his entire home boasts panoramic ocean views, with huge sliding doors making the open floor plan bright and airy.
The home sits on 0.37 acres of grassy gardens, which, as pictures suggest, also includes a fire pit and an elevated pool.
Perry regularly shared pictures from his home, including just two weeks ago with his father, actor John Bennett Perry.

There was also a huge pool table right in front of the garden so guests could enjoy the view while playing.
He also shared a snap of a sunny corner of his property as a gardener worked two weeks ago.
In addition to a spacious lawn, the house appears to have a plot of newly planted trees and other plant beds.
Two covered seating areas are located on either side of the garden overlooking the lawn and pool area, aerial photos show.

The Batman fanatic has decorated his entire home with superhero memorabilia, including a bat signal silhouette in laser lights that illuminates the bottom of his swimming pool.
He previously lived in a luxurious penthouse in LA that was decorated with Batman-themed items.
Perry also gave a glimpse into his living area when he recently shared a video of what looked like a home theater.

Perry became famous for his role as Chandler Bing on the hit 90s sitcom “Friends,” which ran for ten seasons
He stayed on the course at his local country club for just an hour before heading home, his regular partner told TV host Billy Bush.
‘[Pickleball] “Regulated his days,” Bush said. “I spoke to the woman he played with this morning and every morning.”
“She’s in shock, beloved Matt…she said he’s been tired today and for the last week. ‘A little more than usual.’
Perry’s death came as a shock to many, including his Friends co-stars – a rep for Lisa Kudrow said it “doesn’t seem real.”
“Matthew was finally at peace with himself and had the best year of his life since his book was published almost exactly a year ago.” “He was enjoying life,” said Kudrow’s friend.
