Max Domi knows he has to give a lot more

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi is having a very difficult start to the season with his new team.

The 28-year-old has managed just four assists in 11 games since the start of the season and is still waiting for his first goal in his new colors.

“We can all get better and I’m definitely in that group,” he told the media after the team’s practice on Sunday. We have to try to get better every day.”

Despite his recent failures, Domi has no plans to get carried away by poor performances. He also refuses to make any changes to his preparation.

“If you’re frustrated after just 10 games because you can’t get something done, you probably shouldn’t be in the National Hockey League. [LNH]» added the son of former Maple Leafs player Tie Domi.

Unlike previous years, the Toronto club, which has several offensive stars, is struggling to explode in attack. With 35 goals scored, he ranks 16th in the NHL with the Boston Bruins.

Work on defense

If the attack is not performing as expected since the start of the campaign, Domi mentions that changes have been made at the defense level.

“We will not change the defensive adjustments we have made,” said the man who has played both on the wing and in the center since the start of the season. We’ve refined that aspect of our game, so now we need to maintain that level while scoring more points.

However, Toronto does not have any particularly outstanding defensive statistics and is tied for 18th place in the table with 36 goals allowed. After finishing second in the Atlantic Division last season, the team sits in fourth place with 12 points, the same number as the Montreal Canadiens.

The Maple Leafs will look to end their four-game losing streak when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning at Scotiabank Arena on Monday night.
