A new report sheds light on why Sony decided to walk away from Jeopardy! to separate. Co-host Mayim Bialik.

According to the network, the media company realized that only one host was necessary for the show after Bialik withdrew from the program in support of the Hollywood strikes.
The quiz show was hosted by both Bialik and Ken Jennings, 49, but during their absence Sony reportedly realized the drawbacks of the dual hosting arrangement.

Insiders noted how Jennings honed his hosting skills during Bialik's departure.
They also pointed to Sony's alleged scheduling difficulties with Bialik, with the media company reportedly going to great lengths to accommodate her.
Additionally, sources claim she had disagreements with production decisions. These disagreements include the addition of Michael Davies as executive producer and other personnel changes.
Insiders claim Sony finally decided to part ways with her after realizing how out of touch she had become with the program during her months-long absence.
While they no longer want Bialik to host the show regularly, the media company is open to the Blossom alum serving as host on Jeopardy! returns to prime time. Special features due to their numerous strengths.
However, Mayim reportedly shared that she wanted all or nothing, which led Sony to reject her offer.
TMZ also reports that Mayim did not release her statement announcing her departure from Sony before releasing it.

“Sony informed me that I would like to see the syndicated version of Jeopardy! will no longer moderate,” she continued.
“I am truly honored to have been nominated for a Primetime Emmy for this year’s hosting and am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be a part of Jeopardy! “To be allowed to be family,” she wrote.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this incredible journey and to the fans, contestants, writers, staff and team at America's Favorite Quiz Show,” she said.
Shortly thereafter, Jeopardy! released their own announcement on Instagram, confirming that Bialik's co-host Ken Jennings will be the sole host of the upcoming season of the syndicated game show.
“Mayim Bialik has announced that she will host the syndicated version of Jeopardy! will no longer moderate,” the statement said.
They confirmed that Jennings will handle all hosting duties for continuity.
“We have made the decision to have a host for the syndicated show next season to ensure continuity for our viewers,” it continued. “And Ken Jennings will be the sole host of the syndicated series Jeopardy! be.”

As a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) union, she refrained from filming the game show in the last week of filming of the 39th season and left Jennings in charge in the meantime.
