The marriage between trap and funk from Rio and São Paulo proved successful at one of the first presentations of The Town 2023 this Saturday (2).
The MCs Hariel and Ryan, representatives from São Paulo, and MC Cabelinho from Rio, are three sensations of the moment in conscious funk. And the show that the trio performed lived up to its title: the audience was packed and sang along to the three’s hit compilation.
The trio began the performance with “Cracolândia” by Hariel. They got the crowd going with “Married with a Whore” by Ryan SP.
The most “romantic” part, but no less full of mischief, came with “Felina” by Ryan and “Tem Café” by Hariel. Previously, “Fogo e Gasolina” by Cabelinho was also shown. They also showed excerpts from titles from the “Poesia Acústica” project in which they were involved.
“Maçã Verde” by Hariel elicited a chorus from the audience, bouncing with every beat.
The highlight was the tribute to MC Kevin as they sang an excerpt from the artist’s “Cavalo de Troia”. The singer died in 2021 after falling from the balcony of a hotel in Rio.
“Tubarão te amo” only appeared when Ryan asked the audience to form little hearts with their hands, like in the choreography that went viral on the networks.
The show ended with the Power at the forefront, with the song “X1” and a snippet of “Cabelinho meu marrento,” a moment that had the crowd split between filming with their cell phones and singing at the top of their lungs.
