The Party of the European Left (PIE) and the American solidarity project Pastors for Peace this Friday added their accompaniment to the media marathon that will condemn Washington’s blockade against Cuba this weekend.

In its most recent update on the participants in the initiative, the Europa por Cuba channel highlighted the involvement of both organizations in the marathon, which will start this Saturday at 20:00 French time, with 24 hours of non-stop materials containing denunciations and calls for the end of the Siege from which the island suffered for more than 60 years.

The PIE celebrated the call and launched a solidarity and internationalist call to join it, in a message to the channel in January inviting the media, civil society associations, political forces, parliamentarians and citizens from the five continents to speak out against the US Economic, trade and financial blockade.

The European Left has labeled this policy against Cuba as criminal, violating human rights and international law, and called for its immediate repeal.

Pastors for Peace also confirmed their participation through a video sent to the platform set up in October 2020 to support the island and call for an end to the blockade and aggression it is facing.

The American interfaith organization is very popular in the largest of the Antilles for its well-known caravans to bring aid to Cubans and oppose the hostile policies of their country’s government, a project that began in 1992.

In the last few hours, the Spanish Communist Party, Mexican intellectual Fernando Buen Abad and French journalist Maurice Lemoine have also turned their attention to the media marathon against the blockade.

According to Europe for Cuba, the extensive list of media companies that have guaranteed their contribution to the 24 Hours Initiative includes the Prensa Latina, SANA and Sputnik news agencies, the Telesur, HispanTV, Al Mayadeen and Cubavisión Internacional networks, and the National Assembly broadcaster ANTV Venezuela.

Radio stations Radio del Sur, Radio Patagonia, Radio Rebelde and Radio Habana Cuba, the publication Latin American Summary and many other traditional and alternative media have also confirmed their participation.

In terms of organizations, the list includes the World Federation of Trade Unions, the Latin American Network of Solidarity with Cuba, and the National and International Councils for People’s Communications, among others.
