A stray cat has become the #1 tourist attraction on Google Maps in the Polish city of Szczecin. The tuxedo cat — who has a blackandwhite coat with tuxedolike patterns — earned 5 out of 5 stars from more than 4,000 reviews.
The city of 400,000 inhabitants was once called Stettin and was part of what was then Prussia. Catherine the Great was born there in 1729. But people seem more interested in talking about the cat than the city’s historical landmarks.

“He’s an incredibly cute cat who lives his own style. You should definitely meet him, he has his own tiny house. He’s so cute!” one person wrote. “I traveled all the way from Lancaster UK to see Gacek. We chatted a bit. It was good,” wrote another.
“Excellent cat! Very cute! It was raining when I visited but Gacek was happy and well hidden and cozy in his box. Would visit again. Five stars,” rated a third.
“How do you write a review for a cat? Well the cat was there, relaxing and doing what cats do. It wasn’t difficult to find him. He doesn’t mind being touched and petted, but it’s a shame he’s so fat.” In the sense that a lot of people feed it, I would be concerned about the health of the animal,” mused one fourth

Gacek rose to fame almost three years ago when local news station wSzczecinie posted a video about the adorable cat on YouTube.
The name Gacek (pronounced “Gatsek”) means “longeared bat” in Polish. According to the report, he lived independently on Kaszubska Street for about seven years and was friends with everyone in the neighborhood.
Locals said some shopkeepers noticed Gacek and built him a small wooden house as a shelter and began caring for him and making sure he was well fed. The neutered cat had already been adopted, but cried in the middle of the night and wanted to go back to his little house on the street.
The YouTube video about Gacek has garnered 933,000 views and 24,000 likes. Because of the range, more and more people showed up to take pictures of the cat and pet it. One of Gacek’s fans even created an Instagram account, which already has almost 24,000 followers, to document his life. Another admirer recently created a Facebook page.
